Take a Windcave card payment
Use the integrated terminal safely and confirm the payment result before charging again.
Overview
- Windcave is MiniTill's currently supported integrated card-terminal provider.
- A Windcave purchase has provider/session state in addition to the MiniTill Payment record. MiniTill persists enough transaction state to recover uncertain/interrupted attempts.
- The server-approved amount and remaining balance are authoritative; a terminal display alone is not sufficient reason to create a second payment.
- On native POS, certified Windcave flows include purchase recovery and the required signature/merchant-receipt handling where the transaction requires it.
When to use this
- Use Windcave when the configured POS device is linked to an active supported Windcave terminal and the customer is paying by card/EFTPOS.
Step-by-step
- Confirm the correct POS device and linked terminal.
- Start Card / EFTPOS payment once.
- Let the terminal/customer complete the transaction.
- Wait for MiniTill to show a definite approved, cancelled, declined/failed, or recoverable state.
- If the result is uncertain, use recovery/status checking instead of starting another charge.
- After approval, confirm the remaining order balance before any additional tender.
Common mistakes
- Do not press Card repeatedly because the terminal is slow.
- Do not switch register/store or start another conflicting payment while a Windcave session is active.
- Do not assume a customer was not charged just because the browser/app did not receive the final response.
Troubleshooting
- If the terminal is busy, resolve the active transaction/session before retrying.
- If MiniTill restarts or loses connection mid-payment, recover the existing Windcave session.
- If a terminal is unavailable in POS, check active status, provider configuration, POS-device assignment, and native capability.
