Troubleshooting & FAQ
Stocktake will not start, save, or complete
Check Stocktake readiness, Storage Areas, active sessions, save state, and setup changes before creating another count.
Overview
- A Store can have only one IN_PROGRESS Stocktake at a time.
- Stocktake readiness requires valid tracked items and Storage Area assignments.
- Counts auto-save; completion should wait until every line is Saved and no line is in error.
- Avoid changing tracked inventory items or storage-area setup while a Stocktake is in progress, because those changes can prevent the count from completing cleanly.
When to use this
- Use this if Start is disabled, an existing session keeps returning, a line will not save, or Complete is rejected.
Step-by-step
- Review the readiness message above Stocktake history.
- If an IN_PROGRESS session exists, Resume it instead of starting another.
- Fix missing Storage Areas/invalid tracked items before starting a new session.
- During counting, wait for Saved or use Retry on failed lines.
- Before Complete, ensure no line is Saving/error.
- If setup changed after start, review the item identified by the completion error.
Common mistakes
- Do not start another Stocktake to escape an unresolved active one.
- Do not cancel a session if you expect its entered counts to update Current stock.
- Do not change units/conversions mid-count without understanding the captured snapshot.
Troubleshooting
- If the starting quantity is wrong, enter the true physical count rather than rebuilding the whole session.
- If completion repeatedly fails after setup changes, preserve the error details and inspect the affected stock item before retrying.
