Troubleshooting & FAQ
Customer Display says Waiting for POS or shows old content
Check the POS-to-CDS connection separately from promotional media and settings updates.
Overview
- CDS has two distinct connectivity paths: local POS↔CDS for live order snapshots, and cloud access for Store settings/promotional media.
- Waiting for POS means the CDS local service is ready but no POS is connected.
- Previously loaded promotional media may continue playing even if new content has not updated yet.
- Live orders and promotional media use different connections, so one can work while the other has a problem.
When to use this
- Use this when orders do not appear, CDS remains Waiting for POS, or new promotional content has not appeared yet.
Step-by-step
- For live-order problems, confirm POS/CDS are on the same local Wi-Fi and local-network permission is granted.
- Confirm the saved POS↔CDS pairing/Connected state.
- Reconnect or Forget/re-pair only if the saved target is invalid.
- If only promotional media is old, check the Customer Display internet connection and leave it online long enough to update.
- Confirm you edited Customer Display settings for the correct Store.
Common mistakes
- Do not re-pair the POS because only a new video is slow to download.
- Do not re-upload media because live order snapshots are disconnected.
- Do not connect several CDS devices to one POS; supported pairing is one POS to one CDS.
Troubleshooting
- If advertising works but orders do not, focus on local pairing/network.
- If orders work but advertising is old, focus on the Customer Display internet connection and media settings.
