Inventory & Stocktake
Why Stocktake starts with the current quantity
Use the existing stock value as the default and change only what is different instead of confirming every item manually.
Overview
- When a Stocktake starts, MiniTill pre-fills each count with the system stock captured at the start of the session.
- Those starting counts are persisted, so an untouched line is not treated as 'not counted'. It means the Stocktake accepts the starting system quantity for that line.
- The + and − buttons change the count by one Stocktake unit and never allow a negative quantity.
- Staff can still type a decimal/manual quantity directly when the difference is larger or fractional.
- This design is intentional for small hospitality stores where many counts are unchanged or differ by only one or two units.
When to use this
- Use +/− when the physical count is close to the system value; type the number directly when it is substantially different.
Step-by-step
- Read System stock at start.
- Physically count the item.
- If it matches, leave the value alone.
- If it is one/two units different, use + or −.
- For a larger difference, type the actual count.
- Wait for Saved before moving on if the network is slow.
Common mistakes
- Do not press +/− simply to 'confirm' an unchanged value; no extra confirmation tap is required.
- Do not interpret an untouched line as excluded from the Stocktake.
- Do not count in base units if the screen explicitly says Count in tub/bag/tray unless that conversion is wrong and needs setup correction.
Troubleshooting
- If the starting value looks wrong, finish the physical count with the true value and then investigate prior inventory movements/configuration.
- If the wrong Stocktake unit is shown, review the item configuration after dealing safely with the active session.
