POS & Selling

Web POS or MiniTill POS mobile?

Choose the browser or native register without creating a separate order system.

Overview

  • Web POS runs in a normal modern browser and is suitable for a simple counter, demo, temporary setup, or a shop that wants to start with an existing laptop or desktop.
  • MiniTill POS mobile is the native iOS/Android register and uses the same MiniTill orders, customers, menu, payments, and reporting as Web POS.
  • Web POS and Mobile POS both run a selected POS slot. Each POS slot is intended for one active browser or mobile device at a time.
  • If two registers need to operate at the same time, create two POS slots within the Business plan limit.
  • The native app is preferred when the register needs local device capabilities such as direct printer access, persistent device credentials, native recovery behaviour, or local Customer Display discovery/pairing.
  • Using Web POS does not create a separate sales history or separate menu.

When to use this

  • Choose Web POS when you mainly need order entry and configured payment methods from existing computer hardware.
  • Choose MiniTill POS mobile when the counter relies on native printing, a paired CDS, or other dedicated-device behaviour.

Step-by-step

  1. Create/configure the POS slot for the Store.
  2. Open Web POS for that slot or sign into MiniTill POS mobile and select the intended POS slot.
  3. Confirm the same Store, POS slot, menu, and payment setup are selected.
  4. Run one test order and confirm it appears in the same Orders/Reports regardless of client.

Common mistakes

  • Do not expect browser POS to provide every local hardware capability of the native app.
  • Do not create another POS slot merely because you changed one register from Web to Mobile. Create another slot when another register needs to operate at the same time or needs separate settings.
  • Do not treat Web POS as a demo-only database; it writes real MiniTill orders.

Troubleshooting

  • If a native-only feature is missing in Web POS, check whether it depends on local printer/CDS/device integration.
  • If two POS slots show different layouts, review the POS Layout assignment for each slot.
  • If one client cannot use a payment terminal, review the POS-slot-to-terminal assignment and provider capability.
