Understand Store devices

Manage Store-scoped POS devices, KDS displays, printers, terminal assignments, and native hardware responsibilities from one place.

Overview

  • Store Settings → Devices brings together registered POS slots, KDS slots, and Printers for the selected Store.
  • The device table shows device type, active/inactive status, Store, and last-seen or linked context.
  • POS/KDS plan limits count logical slots, not app types. A POS slot or KDS slot may be used from Web or Mobile, but one slot is intended for one active device at a time.
  • Payment terminals are separate Store records that can be assigned to POS devices.
  • Customer Display pairing is handled through MiniTill POS mobile/local discovery rather than being a generic Back Office device record.
  • Hardware configuration is Store-specific: registering a printer or POS/KDS device in one Store does not make it available in another Store.

When to use this

  • Use Devices when opening a new register/kitchen screen, assigning a payment terminal, adding printers, or auditing which hardware is active at a Store.

Step-by-step

  1. Select the correct Store.
  2. Open Settings → Devices.
  3. Add or review POS slots, KDS slots, or Printers. Create another slot when you need another register or kitchen screen operating at the same time.
  4. Assign the correct payment terminal to each POS where integrated card payments are used.
  5. Deactivate obsolete devices instead of reusing their identity for unrelated hardware.
  6. Run test launches/prints/payments before service.

Common mistakes

  • Do not create hardware under the wrong Store.
  • Do not use one POS or KDS slot for several simultaneous physical devices. Create another slot when you need another simultaneous screen.
  • Do not assume Web POS has every native-device capability just because it uses the same server order data.

Troubleshooting

  • If Add device is blocked, check the Business's effective POS/KDS plan limit.
  • If a device appears stale, check last-seen/app connection before deleting/recreating it.
