POS & Selling
Takeaway, Dine In, Delivery, and Source
Understand the important difference between how an order is fulfilled and where the order came from.
Overview
- Fulfilment and Source are separate concepts. Fulfilment describes how the customer receives the order: Dine In, Takeaway/Pickup, or Delivery.
- Source describes where the sale originated. A normal counter sale uses POS.
- The POS also lets staff manually label an order as Uber Eats, DoorDash, or another Marketplace when entering an external order by hand. Marketplace Source selection can use configured marketplace-specific product/modifier pricing.
- Seeing a provider in the Source selector does not mean MiniTill has a live direct integration with that provider. Uber Eats is currently the supported direct marketplace integration; other source labels can be used for manual order attribution.
When to use this
- Change Fulfilment when the customer switches between takeaway, dine-in, or delivery.
- Change Source only when the order truly originated outside the normal counter/POS channel and you need the appropriate source attribution/pricing.
Step-by-step
- Before adding items, confirm or change the Source. Source becomes locked once the order/cart is already server-backed or contains items.
- Choose Takeaway, Dine In, or Delivery for the actual fulfilment method.
- For a manually entered marketplace order, select the correct marketplace Source before building the cart so marketplace prices are used where configured.
- If the marketplace has already collected payment, use Paid by marketplace only when that statement is true for this external order.
Common mistakes
- Do not select Uber Eats or DoorDash Source for a normal walk-in customer.
- Do not assume choosing DoorDash Source creates or synchronises a DoorDash order.
- Do not toggle Paid by marketplace for an order that still needs to be paid locally.
- Do not change Source merely to change fulfilment; use the Takeaway/Dine In/Delivery control.
Troubleshooting
- If Source cannot be changed, the cart/order has already started; clear the unsaved sale or start a new order if the source was chosen incorrectly.
- If marketplace prices are unexpectedly showing, confirm Source is POS for a normal counter sale.
- If an external order was already imported through a supported integration, use its incoming-order workflow rather than manually recreating it.
