Online menu presentation

Control online visibility, descriptions, images, sort order, product badges, and checkout upsell behaviour.

Overview

  • MiniTill can present products differently online without requiring a separate duplicate catalogue.
  • Products have default Show online settings and can use a separate Online Product Image from the normal Product image.
  • Store product settings can include online visibility, online description/image overrides, and online sort order.
  • Products can carry optional online badges with priority and start/end times.
  • Eligible products can be enabled as checkout upsell candidates with priority and tags.

When to use this

  • Use online presentation settings when a customer-facing menu needs richer images/descriptions than the staff POS.
  • Use badges for meaningful temporary/promotional labels and upsells for sensible add-ons, not for every product.

Step-by-step

  1. Edit the Product and enable Show online where appropriate.
  2. Add a customer-friendly description and Online Product Image if different from the internal/product image.
  3. For store-specific presentation, review the Store product's online visibility, description/image override, and sort order.
  4. Add a badge only when its label adds useful information; configure priority and optional start/end times.
  5. Enable checkout upsell only for products that make sense as add-ons and assign appropriate tags/priority.
  6. Open the public storefront and verify how the product appears on mobile.

Common mistakes

  • Do not assume Show on POS and Show online are the same setting.
  • Do not upload text-heavy images that become unreadable on a phone.
  • Do not enable every product as an upsell candidate.
  • Do not leave outdated promotional badges active indefinitely when a start/end window would be clearer.

Troubleshooting

  • If an item is missing online, check Store online ordering status, Product/Category online visibility, Store overrides, and availability.
  • If the wrong image appears, determine whether the Product image, Online Product Image, or Store online image override is taking precedence.
  • If a badge is missing, check whether it is enabled and whether its configured time window is currently active.
