Customers, Loyalty, Discounts & Gift Cards
Configure loyalty settings
Control the Business-wide point value, redemption limits, discount interaction, expiry settings, and optional VIP policy.
Overview
- Loyalty Settings are Business-level and are intentionally separate from Customer Group settings.
- Global controls include Loyalty enabled, Redemption enabled, Point value (cents), Minimum redeem points, optional Maximum redeem points per order, Allow redemption with discounts, and Earn points on redeemed amount.
- The settings also expose Points expire / expiry days and optional automatic VIP configuration with VIP group, qualification spend/window, downgrade toggle, and review window.
- Customer Group Earn rate determines how quickly that group's customers earn; Point value determines how much each redeemed point is worth.
When to use this
- Use Loyalty Settings when changing the rules for the whole Business rather than one Customer Group.
Step-by-step
- Open Loyalty Settings.
- Enable Loyalty and Redemption as needed.
- Set Point value in cents and Minimum redeem points.
- Set a Maximum redeem points per order only if the business wants a cap.
- Choose whether redemption may be combined with discounts.
- Choose whether customers continue earning on the portion paid with redeemed points.
- Configure expiry/VIP options only when you intend to operate those policies consistently.
Common mistakes
- Do not confuse Point value with Earn rate. One controls redemption value; the other controls earning.
- Do not change point value casually when many customers already hold balances; it changes the economic value of their existing points.
- Do not enable expiry or automatic VIP without deciding how staff will explain the policy to customers.
Troubleshooting
- If the page is locked, check the business plan's loyalty entitlement.
- If redemption is missing despite a positive balance, check global Redemption enabled plus the customer's group redemption permission and limits.
