Redeem loyalty points before payment
Apply points before Pay so the customer sees the real remaining amount and the POS can validate the redemption safely.
Overview
- Loyalty redemption requires a selected customer, global redemption enabled, and a Customer Group that allows redemption.
- The maximum redeemable points are limited by the customer's balance, the order amount divided by Point value, and any configured Maximum redeem points per order.
- Minimum redeem points must also be satisfied.
- When Allow redemption with discounts is disabled, discount interaction rules can prevent redemption on discounted orders.
- POS applies redemption before Pay so the reduced amount due is visible before a tender is selected.
When to use this
- Use redemption when a customer explicitly wants to spend their available loyalty points on the current sale.
Step-by-step
- Select the customer.
- Review available balance and redemption limits.
- Enter/select the points to redeem and Apply them before Pay.
- Confirm the Loyalty redeem line and reduced amount due actually appear.
- Then proceed to payment for the remaining balance.
Common mistakes
- Do not assume entering a number means points have been redeemed; confirm the redemption is applied.
- Do not press Pay first and then expect the same pre-payment redemption workflow.
- Do not promise more redemption than the order, balance, or maximum-per-order setting permits.
Troubleshooting
- If redemption is disabled, check Business Loyalty Settings and Customer Group redemption permission.
- If fewer points are allowed than expected, check point value, order amount, balance, minimum, and maximum-per-order limits.
- If a Discount is active, check Allow redemption with discounts.
