Kitchen displays (KDS)

Overview

• Kitchen displays show active orders for preparation. Staff can start, complete, restore, or mark items done depending on the screen and order state.

When to use this

• Use KDS for kitchens, coffee stations, packing benches, or any area that prepares items away from the POS.

Step-by-step

1. Create or select a kitchen display for the store.
2. Open the KDS screen on the kitchen device.
3. Watch for new orders and start preparation when work begins.
4. Mark items or orders complete when they are ready.
5. Use availability controls when the kitchen needs to stop selling an item.

Common mistakes

• Do not run the KDS for the wrong store.
• Do not complete an order before it is physically ready for pickup or handoff.

Troubleshooting

• If orders are missing, check store selection, KDS setup, and whether the order has already been completed.
• If the screen sleeps, use a supported device setting or wake-lock option where available.
