Kitchen Display (KDS)
Configure KDS layout, warnings, and fulfilment labels
Choose Standard or Light operation, route categories/products to the station, and tune layout, timing, colours, concurrency, and fulfilment labels.
Overview
- Each KDS slot can use Standard or Light operation mode. Standard provides the full KDS workflow; Light is a focused preparation mode for secondary stations and does not handle incoming-order acceptance or availability controls.
- A slot can show all order items or only selected Categories and individual Products, so Kitchen, Drinks, Dessert, Packing, or similar stations can each see the work relevant to them.
- KDS supports SIMPLE_LIST and STATUS_COLUMNS display modes.
- Warning after and Danger after thresholds control when old work becomes visually urgent, with configurable colours.
- Concurrent orders controls how many orders the display is designed to surface together within supported limits.
- Skip preparing stage can simplify the workflow for operations that do not need a separate Start/In Progress step.
- Dine In, Pickup, and Delivery labels/colours/icons can be customised so kitchen staff recognise fulfilment at a glance.
When to use this
- Adjust these settings when staff are missing urgency, seeing too much information, or need clearer fulfilment cues.
Step-by-step
- Open the KDS settings for the intended display.
- Choose Standard for a full operational KDS or Light for a focused secondary preparation station.
- Choose whether the KDS shows all items or selected Categories/Products.
- Choose Status columns or Simple list.
- Set warning and danger thresholds that match the actual kitchen promise.
- Set warning/danger colours.
- Choose concurrent-order capacity within the supported range.
- Enable Skip preparing stage only if that simplified workflow fits the store.
- Customise Dine In, Pickup, and Delivery labels/icons only when it improves recognition.
Common mistakes
- Do not set warning/danger thresholds so low that every ticket is permanently urgent.
- Do not make danger time earlier than warning time.
- Do not remove useful preparation stages merely to reduce taps if staff rely on In Progress to coordinate work.
Troubleshooting
- If settings are rejected, check name, timing values, colour format, and concurrent-order limits.
- If changes seem absent, confirm you edited the same Kitchen Display the device is using.
- If an order appears but an expected item is missing, review that slot's Category/Product routing.
