Set up a KDS slot

Overview

• KDS slots are Store-scoped logical kitchen-screen configurations.
• Active KDS slots count toward the Business plan limit.
• Each slot can be active on one Web KDS browser or one Mobile KDS device at a time.
• Back Office supports create/edit/detail, active state, current-device usage, recent-device history, and Mobile KDS installation visibility.
• Mobile KDS signs in with an authorised manager account, selects a Store and KDS slot, and stores its scoped device credential securely.

When to use this

• Create a new KDS slot when a Store needs another preparation screen to operate at the same time or needs different item routing/settings.

Step-by-step

1. Select the Store and open Settings → Devices → KDS slots.
2. Add a KDS slot and give it a clear operational name such as Kitchen, Coffee, or Packing.
3. Configure its display settings and item routing.
4. For Web KDS, choose Open Web KDS on that slot.
5. For Mobile KDS, sign in on the device and select the intended Store and KDS slot.
6. If the tablet needs a different slot later, open Mobile KDS Settings and choose Change KDS slot.
7. Send a test order.

Common mistakes

• Do not select a KDS slot belonging to the wrong Store.
• Do not use one KDS slot on two simultaneous kitchen screens; create another slot instead.
• Do not leave obsolete KDS slots active if they are no longer part of operations.

Troubleshooting

• If Mobile KDS cannot load slots, confirm the account has manager access to the Store and the device can reach MiniTill.
• If the app opens the wrong slot, use Change KDS slot rather than editing unrelated KDS data.
• If a slot is already active elsewhere, decide whether to move that slot here or create/select another slot.
