Use Windcave terminals with POS
Register an active Windcave terminal, assign it to the intended POS device, and use the supported purchase/recovery/refund flow.
Overview
- Windcave is the currently supported integrated card-present terminal provider.
- Terminals are Store-scoped records and can be linked to POS devices.
- MiniTill supports Windcave purchase/status/recovery/cancel/receipt behaviour and provider/API logging required by the integrated flow.
- The native POS checks provider/device capability before exposing integrated card actions.
- An uncertain payment/refund result must be recovered rather than blindly repeated.
When to use this
- Use the Windcave terminal integration when the merchant has approved Windcave credentials/terminal setup and wants card-present payments initiated from MiniTill.
Step-by-step
- Create/register the Windcave terminal under the correct Store.
- Use the correct Windcave terminal ID/provider configuration.
- Mark the terminal Active.
- Assign it to the intended POS device(s).
- Run a small test payment.
- Test an interrupted/recovery scenario and receipt handling before live service.
Common mistakes
- Do not assign a terminal from another Store.
- Do not press Card again while a provider session is uncertain.
- Do not substitute a manual Cash/Card record for an unresolved Windcave attempt merely to close the order.
Troubleshooting
- If the terminal is absent in POS, check active state, Store, POS-device assignment, provider settings, and native capability.
- If a payment is uncertain, use Windcave recovery/payment history before charging again.
