Troubleshooting & FAQ
Windcave terminal is not completing a payment
Separate terminal connectivity, assignment, pending-attempt, receipt, and recovery problems without risking a duplicate card charge.
Overview
- Windcave is the currently supported integrated card-terminal provider in MiniTill.
- A successful card flow depends on Store payment settings, an active/assigned terminal, device capability, provider connectivity, and the recoverable Payment attempt state.
- MiniTill can retain/recover terminal purchase state after app/network interruption.
- Receipt/signature workflows may remain outstanding even after the monetary approval itself succeeded.
When to use this
- Use this if the Card button is missing, the terminal does not start, the POS times out, or payment appears approved at the terminal but unfinished in MiniTill.
Step-by-step
- Confirm the Store/device has Windcave enabled and the correct terminal assigned.
- Check terminal power/network and that the provider device itself is ready.
- If an attempt already started, use recovery/status rather than beginning another purchase.
- Complete any required receipt/signature confirmation.
- Use Payment Reliability/logs if failures repeat across transactions.
Common mistakes
- Do not switch to another terminal mid-attempt without resolving the first attempt.
- Do not assume a POS timeout means no money moved.
- Do not treat Smartpay/Verifone integration-boundary settings as supported production terminal alternatives.
Troubleshooting
- If only one terminal/device fails, inspect assignment/connectivity for that pair.
- If all Windcave terminals fail, investigate provider/network/service status before re-pairing every terminal.
