Configure Gift Cards
Enable Gift Cards, choose POS/online availability, quick amounts, custom amounts, min/max limits, and optional expiry.
Overview
- Gift Card settings are Business-level and require the Gift Cards entitlement.
- Controls include Enable Gift Cards, Allow Gift Card sales at POS, optional Online Shop sales where the plan supports it, custom amount entry, quick-select amounts, minimum/maximum amount, and optional expiry months.
- If Custom amount is disabled, POS Gift Card sales must use one of the configured quick amounts.
- Online Gift Card sales can be enabled only when the plan includes them; storefront checkout still requires a verified online payment provider before real online purchase can complete.
When to use this
- Configure these settings before staff begin selling Gift Cards.
Step-by-step
- Open Business Settings → Gift Cards.
- Enable the feature and POS sales as required.
- Set sensible minimum/maximum values.
- Configure quick amounts and decide whether custom amounts are allowed.
- Set expiry months only if your business policy and applicable requirements support expiry.
- Save and run one controlled Gift Card sale before advertising it.
Common mistakes
- Do not enable Online Gift Card sales and assume checkout works without an online payment provider.
- Do not configure quick amounts outside the min/max range.
- Do not change expiry policy casually for existing customer expectations.
Troubleshooting
- If Gift Cards are locked, check plan entitlement.
- If Sell Gift Card is unavailable in POS, check Gift Cards enabled plus POS enabled and the current cart/recovery state.
