Redeem a Gift Card
Use a valid active card balance at checkout and understand restrictions such as insufficient balance and Gift Card-on-Gift Card purchases.
Overview
- Gift Card redemption is a Payment method and validates the card code, active status, expiry, and available balance.
- The card balance must cover the Gift Card Payment amount being applied.
- On approval, MiniTill reduces Current balance and creates a REDEEM transaction linked to the order/payment.
- A Gift Card cannot be used to purchase another Gift Card.
When to use this
- Use Gift Card payment when the customer presents a valid MiniTill Gift Card code.
Step-by-step
- Open Pay and choose Gift Card / Voucher.
- Enter the Gift Card code.
- Apply an amount that the available balance can cover.
- If a remaining order balance exists, use another valid tender.
- After payment, use Gift Card detail/history if balance needs verification.
Common mistakes
- Do not enter a larger Gift Card amount than its balance.
- Do not use Gift Card payment for purchasing another Gift Card.
- Do not treat the displayed card balance as loyalty points.
Troubleshooting
- If the card is rejected, check code, ACTIVE status, expiry, and Current balance.
- If balance decreased but checkout was interrupted, inspect the Payment/order and Gift Card transaction history before retrying.
