Route receipts and kitchen dockets
Decide which Store printers receive receipts and which categories/products should produce kitchen dockets.
Overview
- Receipt output and Docket output are configured independently per printer.
- A printer can automatically print receipts when its Receipt auto-print setting is enabled.
- Docket auto-print can be enabled separately.
- Docket routing can target selected Categories and/or Products so different preparation areas do not need every item.
- Printer routing is Store-specific and is independent from KDS display configuration, although both can be used in the same kitchen.
When to use this
- Use routing when a Store has separate front receipt, kitchen, coffee, or packing printers.
Step-by-step
- Decide each printer's operational role.
- Enable Receipt/Docket modes as required.
- For Dockets, select the Categories/Products that should route to that printer.
- Run test orders containing routed and non-routed products.
- Confirm only the intended printers receive each output.
Common mistakes
- Do not enable every category/product on every kitchen printer unless duplicate dockets are intentional.
- Do not confuse KDS routing/display behaviour with printer docket routing.
- Do not change routing mid-service without telling kitchen staff.
Troubleshooting
- If a printer works but a specific item never prints, inspect its Category/Product docket targets.
- If the same docket prints in several places, review overlapping printer targets/auto-print settings.
