Manage POS slots and terminal assignment
Give each operational register its own POS slot, then use that slot from Web POS or Mobile POS.
Overview
- A POS slot is a Store-scoped register identity. It is what counts against the Business plan's POS limit.
- Each POS slot is intended to be active on one Web POS browser or one Mobile POS device at a time. Web and Mobile are two ways to use the same slot, not extra registers.
- The POS section shows slot name, POS code/local code, active state, last seen, linked default terminal, and an Open Web POS link.
- Create another POS slot when you need another register to operate at the same time.
- A Store payment terminal can be connected to one or more POS-device records as their default terminal where the provider workflow supports it.
- POS layout/device-specific settings remain separate from the user's login.
When to use this
- Create one POS slot for each register that needs to operate independently at the same time.
Step-by-step
- Select the Store and open Settings → Devices → POS.
- Add a POS slot if the plan limit allows.
- Give it a recognisable name.
- Assign the intended POS layout and default payment terminal where applicable.
- Open/use the POS from that device identity.
- Watch Last seen and deactivate devices that are retired.
Common mistakes
- Do not share one POS slot across several physical registers at the same time. Add another slot instead.
- Do not assign a terminal from the wrong Store.
- Do not delete/recreate a POS device solely because Last seen is old; first confirm the device/app is actually no longer used.
Troubleshooting
- If the correct terminal is missing, check Store, terminal active state, and POS-device assignment.
- If Add POS slot is blocked, deactivate an obsolete slot or review the plan limit.
