Customer Display local pairing
Pair one POS with one CDS over local Wi-Fi using native MiniTill POS discovery and keep cloud media refresh separate from the local order link.
Overview
- Customer Display discovery/pairing is a native MiniTill POS capability.
- POS and CDS use Bonjour/mDNS/local-network discovery and a persistent local connection.
- The supported architecture is one POS paired to at most one CDS; a Store can have multiple independent POS↔CDS pairs.
- The saved pairing is remembered and MiniTill POS attempts to reconnect.
- Live cart/customer data uses the local POS↔CDS connection, while CDS media/settings refresh separately from the cloud.
When to use this
- Use this when installing a dedicated customer-facing display beside a native MiniTill POS.
Step-by-step
- Connect POS and CDS devices to the same local Wi-Fi.
- Open MiniTill CDS.
- Open Customer Display settings in MiniTill POS mobile.
- Grant local-network permission.
- Find and connect the intended CDS.
- Confirm Connected and run a test order/customer selection.
Common mistakes
- Do not expect Web POS to perform native Bonjour/CDS discovery.
- Do not pair several CDS devices to one POS.
- Do not use guest Wi-Fi/client isolation that blocks device-to-device traffic.
Troubleshooting
- If CDS says Waiting for POS, focus on the local pairing/network path.
- If live orders work but new promotional media is stale, troubleshoot cloud media/settings refresh instead.
