Customer Display (CDS)
Split-screen layout and rotating messages
Keep the order readable while using the remaining screen for customer information, store messages, and promotional media.
Overview
- When promotional content is enabled and an order is active, CDS uses a split presentation rather than replacing advertising completely.
- In landscape, the configured Order panel width controls the left/order area and the remaining width is used for the side content.
- In portrait, the same setting controls the order area's height proportion.
- The side area reserves an upper message/customer card and a lower media area when media exists.
- If a customer is attached, the message card shows their first name and available points. Otherwise, configured Store messages rotate every 10 seconds.
- If no custom messages are configured, MiniTill uses friendly built-in fallback messages.
When to use this
- Use split-screen to keep promotions visible during service without making the live order too small to read.
Step-by-step
- Start with the recommended 42% Order panel width.
- Run a realistic order containing long product names and modifiers.
- Adjust width if order readability or promotional visibility is poor.
- Add short Store messages if desired, one per line.
- Test both customer-selected and guest orders to see the loyalty card versus rotating messages.
Common mistakes
- Do not fill messages with long paragraphs; the side area is intended for quick scanning.
- Do not expect fallback messages to rotate when a customer is selected—the customer/points card takes that space.
- Do not expect split-screen content when promotional content is disabled.
Troubleshooting
- If custom messages are not shown, confirm the order has no selected customer and promotional content is enabled.
- If the order feels cramped, increase Order panel width within the supported range.
