Customer Display (CDS)
Upload and build a promotional playlist
Upload images or MP4 video to the Business media library, then choose and order the assets used by each Store.
Overview
- Promotional media belongs to the Business media library, while each Store chooses which assets appear on its own CDS playlist.
- The Back Office upload flow supports promotional images and MP4 video and stores managed media through MiniTill's media/R2 path.
- Adding an asset to one Store's playlist does not automatically add it to every Store.
- Removing an item from a Store playlist does not delete the underlying asset from the Business media library.
- Playlist order is controlled explicitly with move up/down controls.
When to use this
- Use the playlist for product photos, specials, seasonal promotions, brand content, or short video while the screen is idle and alongside active orders.
Step-by-step
- Upload an image or MP4 to the Business media library.
- Add the desired assets to the selected Store.
- Arrange them in the preferred playlist order.
- Set image duration or video loop/play-time options.
- Save the Customer Display settings.
- Wait for the CDS to fetch/cache new media and verify the playlist on the physical display.
Common mistakes
- Do not use a YouTube page URL as though it were an uploaded promotional video; the managed CDS playlist is built around image/MP4 media assets.
- Do not remove an asset from the Store playlist expecting it to disappear from the Business library.
- Do not upload unnecessarily huge media when a suitably encoded display asset will load/cache faster.
Troubleshooting
- If upload succeeds but the CDS still shows old content, allow the next settings refresh and media-cache download to finish.
- If video shows as unavailable, verify the installed CDS build includes the native video component.
