Customer Display (CDS)
Customer name and loyalty on CDS
Show the selected customer's first name and available points during service, then show earned and remaining points after payment.
Overview
- When a customer is selected in POS, CDS can show a personal greeting using the customer's first name and their current available points.
- During an active order, this customer/points information occupies the message area of the promotional side panel.
- After a completed sale, the Thank-you overlay can show 'Thanks, [name]!', points earned on the transaction, and the customer's available points balance.
- If no customer is attached, the side panel uses store promotional/fallback messages instead of inventing customer information.
When to use this
- Use this as immediate visual confirmation that the cashier selected the correct loyalty customer and that the customer can see the benefit of identifying themselves.
Step-by-step
- Select the customer in POS before payment.
- Confirm the CDS greeting shows the correct first name and points balance.
- Apply loyalty redemption before Pay when requested and confirm the order totals reflect it.
- Complete the sale and check the Thank-you screen for points earned/available when applicable.
Common mistakes
- Do not attach the wrong customer simply to make loyalty information appear.
- Do not promise earned points based only on an estimate; the completed-order result is the relevant confirmation.
- Do not expect customer loyalty information in the promotional side panel when promotional content is disabled, because that split panel is not shown.
Troubleshooting
- If a selected customer does not appear, check the local snapshot connection and confirm the customer is actually attached to the POS order.
- If points earned are absent after payment, check whether the order/customer was eligible for loyalty earning.
