Online loyalty sign-in and PIN
Explain how online customers use their phone number and a 4–6 digit PIN to view and redeem loyalty points.
Overview
- MiniTill Online Ordering can let an existing loyalty customer sign in using their phone number and a 4–6 digit PIN.
- After signing in, the storefront can show the customer's points balance and available redemption options.
- A customer without a PIN can be offered PIN setup in the online ordering flow, including after an order confirmation when MiniTill can identify the customer and no PIN is set.
- The PIN is for the customer's online loyalty identity. It is separate from staff POS PINs used for register security and manager approvals.
When to use this
- Use this explanation when customers ask how to access their loyalty points on MiniTill Online Ordering.
Step-by-step
- The customer enters or confirms their phone number.
- Choose Sign in for points and enter the existing 4–6 digit PIN, or create a PIN when the storefront offers setup.
- After successful sign-in, review the displayed balance and redemption choices.
- Choose a valid redemption amount and place the order; the server recalculates the final allowed redemption before accepting it.
- Keep the PIN private just like any other account credential.
Common mistakes
- Do not confuse the customer's loyalty PIN with a staff POS PIN.
- Do not create a new customer profile simply because the customer forgot their online PIN.
- Do not assume the storefront's estimated redemption is final until the server accepts/recalculates the order.
Troubleshooting
- If sign-in fails, confirm the phone belongs to the correct customer and the PIN is correct.
- If points are visible but cannot be redeemed, check Business Loyalty Settings, Customer Group redemption permission, minimum/maximum limits, and the current order amount.
- If a customer has no PIN, use the PIN-setup flow when offered rather than creating a duplicate loyalty account.
