Uber Eats: understand remaining time and Ready for pickup
Use remaining minutes as the primary kitchen cue and notify Uber only when preparation is genuinely complete.
Overview
- After an Uber order is accepted, MiniTill KDS prioritises the remaining preparation time rather than making staff mentally subtract clock times.
- The absolute ready-by time remains available as secondary information.
- When all required items are finished, KDS can send the supported Ready-for-pickup notification to Uber.
- If the Ready notification fails, MiniTill exposes failure state/retry rather than silently assuming Uber was notified.
When to use this
- Use remaining time to prioritise the order during preparation, and send Ready only when the food/order is actually ready for courier pickup.
Step-by-step
- Prepare the order while watching the remaining-time indicator.
- Complete the required items.
- When KDS says Ready to notify Uber, send the Ready-for-pickup notification.
- Confirm the KDS shows that Uber was notified.
- If notification fails, use Retry after checking connectivity/provider status.
Common mistakes
- Do not mark Ready simply because a courier is approaching if the order is not physically ready.
- Do not assume a failed Ready notification reached Uber.
- Do not confuse KDS Complete with successful provider Ready notification; provider acknowledgement is a separate integration action.
Troubleshooting
- If Ready is unavailable, finish all required items first.
- If provider notification fails, follow the displayed retry/error guidance rather than repeatedly completing/reopening the KDS card.
