Connect and manage Xero
Connect Xero to a Business, configure account mappings, and monitor sync status.
Overview
- Xero is connected at Business level through the secure Xero sign-in flow.
- One Xero tenant is connected to the Business at a time.
- MiniTill keeps the Xero connection credentials protected; staff do not need to enter them on POS devices.
- The Xero settings page shows Connected, Needs attention, or Disconnected plus tenant, connection time, last test, and the latest connection error.
- Owners and Business Managers can Connect, Test connection, Reconnect, or Disconnect Xero.
- Account mappings and export settings control where MiniTill posts supported accounting workflows.
When to use this
- Connect Xero when the Business uses supported Account Sale, daily/till sales, expense receipt, or marketplace accounting workflows.
Step-by-step
- Open Business Settings → Integrations → Xero.
- Choose Connect Xero and authorise the correct tenant.
- Confirm the connected tenant name.
- Load and save the required Xero account mappings.
- Configure Sales export settings and Account Sale terms where needed.
- Run Test connection.
- Use the Xero sync history to review later successes or failures.
Common mistakes
- Do not connect the wrong Xero tenant just because the current user has access to several organisations.
- Do not disconnect/reconnect as the first response to one failed sync; inspect the specific sync error first.
- Do not assume connecting Xero automatically posts every MiniTill transaction type.
Troubleshooting
- If account lists cannot load, Test connection and review the last connection error.
- If one transaction failed but the connection is healthy, use that workflow's specific retry instead of reconnecting the whole integration.
