Find purchasing Savings
Compare the Store's currently selected Ingredient purchase option with cheaper valid alternatives without changing purchasing automatically.
Overview
- Savings looks for active alternative purchase options whose comparable effective unit cost is lower than the option currently selected by the Costing engine.
- It shows current supplier, alternative supplier, current unit cost, alternative unit cost, percentage saving, and saving per Ingredient base unit.
- Savings uses usable quantity, compatible units, price, GST handling, and Ingredient yield when comparing costs.
- A suggestion does not automatically switch Preferred supplier or rewrite Recipe costs.
- Hide suggestion dismisses that Ingredient/alternative pair from the current Store's Savings view.
When to use this
- Use Savings when negotiating suppliers or reviewing whether the declared Preferred purchasing choice is still economically sensible.
Step-by-step
- Open Costing → Savings for the Store.
- Review the alternative and percentage/unit saving.
- Check pack size, availability, supplier reliability, delivery terms, and product suitability outside the raw unit-cost calculation.
- If you genuinely intend to switch normal purchasing, change the Ingredient's Preferred purchase option deliberately.
- If the suggestion is not useful, Hide suggestion.
Common mistakes
- Do not assume the cheapest calculated option is operationally the best supplier.
- Do not assume Savings has already changed Product cost.
- Do not compare incompatible units or unusable pack quantities outside MiniTill and conclude the suggestion is wrong without checking conversion.
Troubleshooting
- If no Savings appear, there may be no cheaper active comparable option for that Store.
- If an expected alternative is absent, check its active status, currency, price, usable quantity/unit, and whether it was previously hidden.
