Connect supplier products to Ingredients
Turn a Store supplier pack into an Ingredient purchase option with usable quantity, price, priority, and Preferred status.
Overview
- Ingredient Purchase Options are Store-specific links between a Business Ingredient and a Store Supplier/Supplier Product.
- A purchase option records usable quantity/unit and can use the latest Supplier Product price or a manually maintained price.
- The first active purchase option connected to an Ingredient is made Preferred automatically.
- Only one active purchase option should be Preferred for an Ingredient in a Store.
- Disconnecting an option soft-removes that connection; if it was Preferred, MiniTill selects another active option by priority where available.
When to use this
- Create multiple options when the same Ingredient can be purchased from several suppliers or in different pack sizes.
Step-by-step
- Open the Ingredient for the selected Store.
- Choose Connect product.
- Select an existing/synced supplier product or create a manual supplier product.
- Review/edit Usable quantity and unit.
- Set the Preferred option that represents the Store's normal purchasing choice.
- Compare Recipe/Product cost after changing Preferred or usable quantity.
Common mistakes
- Do not use purchase pack count as Usable quantity when the pack contains multiple units unless the conversion reflects the actual usable total.
- Do not connect a supplier product already linked to another Ingredient.
- Do not disconnect the Preferred option without checking which replacement MiniTill will use.
Troubleshooting
- If a purchase option cannot be saved, confirm its unit is compatible with the Ingredient base unit and quantity is greater than zero.
- If the wrong Supplier price seems to be used, check which purchase option is currently Preferred/selected.
