Link a customer to a completed order
Attach a missed customer after payment, preview eligibility, and backfill the appropriate loyalty earn without recreating the sale.
Overview
- MiniTill supports linking a customer to an eligible paid order after completion when staff forgot to select them before payment.
- The server previews the proposed link and loyalty result before committing it.
- An eligible linked order can receive a POST_PURCHASE_EARN ledger entry.
- Refunded orders cannot earn loyalty through this post-purchase workflow.
- A configured post-purchase attachment window can restrict how long normal linking is allowed; manager roles can override the expired window where the workflow permits it.
When to use this
- Use this when the sale genuinely belongs to the customer but the cashier forgot to attach them.
Step-by-step
- Open the paid completed order.
- Choose Link customer.
- Search and select the correct existing profile.
- Review the server preview: customer, eligible amount, points, status, and window.
- Confirm only if the customer and loyalty result are correct.
Common mistakes
- Do not create a new duplicate customer only to link the order.
- Do not link somebody else's receipt simply to award points.
- Do not manually add the expected points first and then also use the completed-order linking workflow.
Troubleshooting
- If linking is blocked, check that the order is paid, has no refund history, and is within the allowed window or being handled by an authorised manager.
- If points were already earned, MiniTill blocks duplicate earn creation.
