Review supplier price changes
See how one supplier price change flows through Ingredients and nested Recipes into affected Product costs and margins.
Overview
- When a connected Supplier Product price changes, MiniTill can compare Product cost snapshots before and after that price change.
- The impact follows the linked Ingredient into directly affected Recipes, parent Recipes that use them as sub-recipes, and finally linked Products.
- A Cost Review records previous/current Product cost, cost delta, selling price, gross profit/margin changes, food-cost changes, and the source supplier price history.
- Actionable statuses are PENDING and ACTION_REQUIRED.
- Staff can add a note, mark Action required, Mark reviewed, or Dismiss.
- REVIEWED/DISMISSED records store reviewer/time; changing review status does not automatically change menu price or purchasing preference.
When to use this
- Use Cost Reviews whenever supplier pricing moves enough to affect Products and you need an auditable decision about whether to act.
Step-by-step
- Open Costing → Cost Reviews for the selected Store.
- Process queued price histories first if needed.
- Review the affected Product and cost delta.
- Open Product/Ingredient context if a change needs investigation.
- Add a note.
- Choose Action required, Mark reviewed, or Dismiss according to the business decision.
- Make any actual menu-price/purchasing change separately.
Common mistakes
- Do not mark Reviewed assuming MiniTill has changed the Product price.
- Do not Dismiss simply because the supplier price went down; the review may still be useful for margin/purchasing context.
- Do not confuse queued price changes with completed impact reviews.
Troubleshooting
- If a known price change produced no review, verify the Supplier Product is connected to an Ingredient that ultimately reaches a linked Product.
- If queued histories remain, use the Dashboard reprocess path and inspect errors before manually recreating anything.
